Power of Partnership™
United Way of Santa Barbara County has been building a better community
and changing lives every day since 1923. We are one of the county’s
largest sources of investment funds for health and human services.
During the past year, almost 100 interrelated services worked together
to comprise the Power of Partnership™. Each dollar you contribute
is a solid investment in the health and vitality of all people in our
local community.
We receive more charitable gifts from more people than any other charity
in Santa Barbara County: over 10,000 individuals and 300 employees
contribute. A thirty-one member voluntary board of directors governs the
organization. Each year, over 2,500 people volunteer to help in various
ways to continually improve efficiency and effectiveness; fund raising
and fund distribution processes are closely tied to market research,
community needs assessments, and demographics.
United Way brings diverse people and resources together to address the
urgent and important issues our communities face. Through unique
partnerships and approaches United Way mobilizes resources, beyond the
dollars that are pledged with their fund raising efforts. Community
partners often include schools, government, businesses, employees,
financial institutions, voluntary and neighborhood associations,
retirees, community development organizations and the faith community:
the Power of Partnership™
.
United Way’s Community Impact Agenda only focuses on work in Santa
Barbara County communities that touch children, family, seniors and
community building. Agendas are set by a broad range of caring
individuals, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children,
families and neighborhoods. Included are those directly affected by the
agenda and community-based organizations. Strategies include identifying
and building on community strengths and assets, funding programs and
initiatives, advocating for public policy changes and collaborating with
others in support of these and related issues every day.
“You & I…helping children, families, and
seniors as no one person or organization can”
