15th Annual Alexis de Tocqueville/Leadership Circle Thank You Reception

Chris & Bob Emmons are ADT members.  Bob is also on the Vision Council for the Power of Partnership  Initiative.

More than 80 of United Way’s most generous donors were warmly feted at the 15th Annual Thank You Reception for members of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society (ADT) and Leadership Circle on April 16, 2008 at the Birnam Wood Golf Club.

In welcoming the group, Leadership Circle Co-Chair David Prichard thanked everyone for their outstanding support of United Way’s goal to ensure that every child, senior and their families in south Santa Barbara County has an opportunity for a secure and productive future. He especially acknowledged his wife, Cris, as his Co-Chair, and the committee members who helped to achieve last year’s outstanding results.

Jim Wolfe, Alexis de Tocqueville Society Chair, thanked his co-Chair and wife, Marcia, for her leadership, and acknowledged all ADT members in attendance for their exemplary support of United Way with annual gifts of $10,000 and more.

Tom and Barbara Brashears were pleasantly surprised to receive special tokens of recognition from Jim on behalf of ADT, as he announced that at the Annual Awards Dinner in May they would receive the Alexis de Tocqueville Award for Outstanding Philanthropy.

Kudos and gratitude were expressed for Bob and Val Montgomery, who were unable to attend the evening’s event. Jim acknowledged their wonderful contributions to the Red Feather Ball 2007 and revealed that the Montgomerys will also be honored in May as Outstanding Volunteers of Time, Talent & Treasure in Leadership Giving.

United Way’s Paul Didier and Charles Caldwell provided a tantalizing sneak preview of the exciting new Power of Partnership
Initiative (POPI) that is being launched this month. The Initiative is actively engaging top leaders from all sectors of south Santa Barbara County in a precedent-setting collaboration that will significantly improve the future of our community’s children and the lives of our seniors. Everyone in attendance left the event excited by this vision and by the landmark leadership role of United Way in making it happen.
