On February 12, 2008, Alexis de Tocqueville
donors Dick and Maryan Schall graciously opened the doors to their
stunning Montecito home for the first Alexis de Tocqueville event of the year.
This event, which encouraged members to bring guests, proved to be a
great success in giving those who attended a first look at the
Power of
Partnership™
Initiative. With some powerful introductory words from Mr. Schall and a brief presentation from the Power of Partnership™
director
Charles Caldwell, the event left members and guests inspired and excited
for the new community-wide initiative to create lasting changes in
people’s lives and the community.
Alexis de Tocqueville Society Co-Chair, Jim Wolfe, was quick to tell
those in attendance that other communities have had success making long-term
change in their communities with similar partnership initiatives. Jim
said, “With United Way of Santa Barbara County’s proven track record on
a smaller scale with Fun in the Sun over the last eleven years, we know
we have the knowledge, resources and the will to guide the community to
lasting changes for our children, families and seniors.”
