Lance Conner has been elected to the board of directors at United Way of
Santa Barbara County.
Connor is a biomedical engineer and biostatistician. He holds dual
master's degrees, a M.A. in Applied Statistics (UCSB, 2003) and an M.S.
in Quality Assurance (California State University, Dominguez Hills,
1996). He earned his B.S. in Engineering at Tulane University. Connor is
an ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer, Certified Quality Engineer,
Certified Software Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, and Six
Sigma Black Belt. He is a specialist in applying statistical tools to
the development of medical technology.
Connor and his partner Nancy Werner, a biomedical engineer and
biomaterials scientist, operate a local business, Reliable Engineering
Services, Inc., which provides on-site technical staffing and
engineering support services to medical device manufacturers in the
United States and Europe.
The couple began supporting United Way in 1998 through workplace
volunteering and giving programs. In addition, they are active with
Direct Relief International and Doctors without Borders. The couple
lives in Santa Barbara and have two children.
