Pennies for Change™
News Release - February 2008
United Way of Santa Barbara County is introducing a new program that
will help local banks, card issuers and community members. United Way’s
Pennies for Change™ is a simple but revolutionary way for your customer
to donate a penny to United Way every time they make a purchase with
your card. Give your customers the opportunity to make a big difference,
with small change.
How does the program work? Customers are given the opportunity to opt-in
to donate 1¢ every time they make a credit card or debit card purchase.
United Way of Santa Barbara County will receive 60% of the money donated
locally and use those donations here in Santa Barbara County. United Way
of America will receive 40% of the money donated locally and use those
donations to provide funding for national programs such as 2-1-1 or
Born
Learning.
Now local banks can offer this unique way for customers to make a
difference in their community and expand their business at the same
time. By participating in this program, local banks will receive broad
nationwide exposure, positive public relations and a competitive
advantage over non-participating banks and card issuers.
Whether your bank has a national, regional, or local card product,
donations made to United Way's Pennies for Change™ program will
benefit the local community. The donations will provide much needed
financial support to fund our local impact areas: Successful Children &
Youth, Strong Families and Independent Seniors.
If you are a bank representative or a bank customer and would like to
partner with us in this exciting new program and help make a
difference-- with small change-- please contact Steve Ortiz 805.965.8591
x 111 or email
