Sarvis Appointed Community Campaign Chair at United Way of Santa Barbara County

J. Brian Sarvis, Ed.D. has been appointed Chair of the Community
Campaign for United Way of Santa Barbara County. Sarvis’ first
involvement with United Way was sixteen years ago in another community.
Sarvis is superintendent of Santa Barbara School Districts which
oversees operations of 23 elementary and secondary schools, including
16,000 students and 1,800 employees. He holds a bachelor’s degree in
sociology and anthropology, a master’s degree in psychology, and a
doctorate in educational administration. He has also completed
postdoctoral study in educational technology and school redesign at
Stanford University. He and his wife Ann have six grown children.
“United Way provides great opportunities to not only the charities it
serves but also the people that serve United Way. It is a major force in
building the capacity to serve the needs of our community,” said Sarvis.
