11th Annual Red Feather Ball: Still the Best Party in Santa Barbara
On Saturday, October 13, 2007, two hundred and fifty patrons arrived in their finest red and black formal attire for United Way's 11th Annual Red Feather Ball. Actually, they pulled up to the Red Feather Club, where the ballrooms of Fess Parker's Doubletree were transformed into a glamorous 1930's dance club complete with music and dancers from the era. The band, Stew and the Crew, were a great hit as guests danced throughout the dinner when not being entertained by the professional dance troupe that performed Tap, Charleston and the Lindy Hop.
The 2007 recipients of the Abercrombie Award for Community Excellence, Bob & Chris Emmons and the firm of Damitz, Brooks, Nightingale, Turner & Morrisset were honored for decades of community service and philanthropic contributions in speech by Board Chair, Tom Thomas and song as the Musical Mischief Production of "That's Philanthropic! The Sequel" brought the audience to their feet.
Thanks to the generosity of time, talent and treasure of our Honorees, Chairs and Women's Committee and Patrons, the Red Feather Ball continues to surprise and delight as one of Santa Barbara's most enjoyable and successful non-profit parties of the calendar. Always held on the second Saturday of October, please Save the Date October 11, 2008 for next year's Red Feather Ball. |
Red Feather Ball VIP Reception Makes for a Magical Evening
The 2007 Red Feather Ball VIP Reception was held at the beautiful Montecito home and grounds of our Red Feather Ball Chairs, Bob and Val Montgomery. Over 60 of our most generous donors and volunteers attended, along with past recipients of the Abercrombie Community Excellence Awards, to celebrate the accomplishments of this year's honorees, Bob & Chris Emmons and the firm of Damitz, Brooks, Nightingale, Turner & Morrisset.
This evening was truly magical as we presented Katherine Abercrombie her award from the Board of Directors as the "Honorary Chair in Perpetuity" of the Red Feather Ball, and she in turn charmed us all with her indomitable spirit and steadfast support of United Way and the Red Feather Ball which she founded in 1997. |
