United Way's Board of Directors is examining every facet of operations. As a result, we are in the process of redesigning our grant making processes to be in closer alignment with our revised Strategic Plan. Our new policies, procedures, and processes will be complete in November 2009. Our plan calls for us to focus on services, partnerships, and collaborations that benefit Santa Barbara County children, families, and seniors to build better communities. Grants will have to demonstrate the ability to accomplish United Way community-consensus multi-year goals for each focus area of children, families, and seniors. Most grants will be made in some type of multi-year arrangement rather than one-year grants. More than 100 volunteers will be involved in this grant making, measuring, reporting and mutual problem solving processes each year.
