Private Label Coffee Perks Warm Wishes and Donations
Sarr Coffee, an all organic and fair trade coffee, tea and spice
company, is trying to warm survivors’ hearts one cup at a time.
Beginning on Saturday, November 29th they will be selling bags of coffee
labeled Santa Barbara Tea Fire Response Fund every Saturday at the
Farmer’s Market on Cota and Santa Barbara streets. Owner Dorothy
Dudack is feeling the effects on a personal level, having been
evacuated herself and knowing two families who were evacuated
permanently. “It’s about involving the community,” says Dudack, which
explains her reason for making the commitment from this week until
Christmas. Up to 200 bags of coffee will be sold for $5 each at the
Farmer’s Market every Saturday, potentially earning $4,000 for the Santa
Barbara Tea Fire Response Fund by the end of this endeavor.

Ojai Valley Inn & Spa to Support Tea Fire Response Fund
Ojai Valley Inn & Spa would like to offer assistance to our
neighbors in Santa Barbara and Montecito who were adversely affected by
the Tea Fire. In an effort to embrace our theme this year of “A Season
of Giving Back,” we will happily donate a portion of the proceeds from
three holiday events at the Inn - our Thanksgiving Grand Buffet, our
Teddy Bear Tea on December 21 and our New Year’s Eve Dinner/Dance in our
signature restaurant, Maravilla – to the United Way of Santa Barbara.
Additionally, we will welcome displaced fire survivors with a 50% room
rate reduction at the Inn effective immediately. It is our sincere hope
that our fellow business leaders will join in this most worthwhile
endeavor to aid the Tea Fire survivors.
For more information, contact Veronica Cole, Public Relations Manager. Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, 905
Country Club Road, Ojai, California 93023. 805-640-2080, 805-646-9622. |

CPK Feeds Community and Response Fund
Pizza may not be a means to an end in the aftermath of the Tea Fire, but
California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) certainly has made a difference
since the very beginning of the fire. As the firefighters took breaks
from battling the blazes, CPK welcomed them to come and grab a meal to
refuel; they served 15 firefighters free of charge during the weekend of
the fire. On November 14th, CPK delivered 20 pizzas, pastas, and salads
to Earl Warren Showgrounds for any survivors or volunteers who needed a
good meal. Additionally, they donated 20 pizzas to the Montecito
clean-up volunteers on November 30th and donated 3 gift cards for a
“dinner for two” to a recent fundraiser concert. All the effort would
perhaps seem to glean a lot of attention, but General Manager Michele
Jones simply said, “We just wanted to help and saw what needed to be
done.” Now, CPK is asking the community to contribute by stopping in for
lunch or dinner on Tuesday, November 25th and presenting a flier.
Students at Santa Barbara High School are currently distributing fliers
that state CPK will donate 20% of the proceeds to benefit those affected
by the Santa Barbara Tea Fire. |
Local Concert Sings the Blues and Raises Money
On Tuesday, November 25, a concert for the Tea Fire survivors will be
held at Statement at 7 pm on State Street, featuring Orlando
Napier, a local blues musician, and the club’s DJ. The show starts
at 7 pm and costs a minimum $5 donation at the door. Various prizes such
as restaurant gift certificates, wine tours, X-Boxes, and printers will
be raffled, and California Pizza Kitchen will be providing food.
All proceeds, including all tips for bartenders, will go to the Tea Fire
Response Fund to benefit Tea Fire survivors. Sounds like a cause we can
all raise a glass to! |
Online Book Store Inspires Reading and Hope
Tricia Drylie knew she needed to contribute to the Tea Fire Fund,
but felt that the distance would not allow for her to bring any hands-on
volunteerism. Drylie says families that have children hit close to home
for her, so she decided to contribute funding through a children’s book
company for which she sells through a website. From November
20th-December 20th Barefoot Books (www.thebarefootlibrary.com) will
donate 10% of your purchase the Santa Barbara Tea Fire Response Fund,
where 100% of proceeds will benefit those affected by the fires. Enter
code EV298 at checkout. |
