Santa Barbara County's United Way announced the results of its 2002-2003
Annual Community Campaign at a Victory Celebration held at the Four
Seasons Biltmore Resort in Montecito on February 20, 2003.
A crowd of over 200 supporters enjoyed the festive Mardi Gras event,
sponsored by John Indrieri, General Manager of the Four Seasons Biltmore
Resort, which included a short program, campaign reports, and
entertainment provided by the Swizzle Sisters.
Ron Werft, President & CEO of Cottage Health System and United Way's
2002-2003 Campaign Chair recognized the efforts of nearly 2,500
volunteers, as well as organizations and companies that were especially
supportive. Star Awards were given to the following companies for their
accomplishments during December through February.

United Way will officially thank and recognize all donors and
organizations at the 80th Annual Awards Luncheon at the Cabrillo Arts
Center on May 21st.
Members of the Annual Campaign Cabinet were lauded for their outstanding
volunteer efforts when they reported their respective Division
accomplishments. Volunteer leaders present were:

While staff unveiled a giant thermometer used to monitor the campaign,
Werft announced that a record $2,934,516 had been raised, exceeding last
year's $2,903,858 total as well as this year's campaign's goal of
$2,933,000. He also announced that the average gift amount was $232,
exceeding the goal of $208. United Way Board President Rick Nightingale
of Damitz Brooks Nightingale Turner & Morrissett, CPAs, credited Werft
for his leadership of an outstanding campaign.
