United Way of Santa Barbara County off to a Great 2020 with Season of Giving for 153 Local Adopted children and Families

Donors from Women United, L3 Harris, Northern Trust, Cottage Hospital, AGIA Affinity, and attendees of the United Way of Santa Barbara County’s Seasons of Giving and Holiday Market events spread holiday cheer to 153 adopted children and families. These donors purchased and distributed over 500 gifts to Harding Elementary, Franklin Elementary, La Patera Elementary, Isla Vista Youth Projects, and the general community throughout Santa Barbara County.

UWSBC would like to extend special thanks to Seasons of Giving co-chairs, Belle Hahn and Shari Liu, and Holiday Market co-chairs, Mary and Lucy Firestone. Through these two events, holiday gifts were purchased and 52 beneficiary individuals were identified in partnership with Family Service Agency to receive gift cards to purchase Thanksgiving dinner. Some of the recipient families these cards helped included a teen mother who gave birth the week before Thanksgiving, who used her card to cover food expenses for the holidays and a family who used their card to host Thanksgiving for members of their church group who did not have nearby family.

“Thank you to our generous supporters and partners who help make Santa Barbara a better place during the holidays and all year-round,” Steve Ortiz, CEO and President of United Way of Santa Barbara County.
