United Way of Santa Barbara County is providing financial assistance to individuals, families, and organizations who have been most impacted by COVID-19.  Please reference the different options below to learn more and apply for assistance. Note that you may be eligible for multiple categories. 

COUNTY OF SANTA BARBARA RENTAL & UTILITY GRANTS

The County of Santa Barbara is offering Emergency Rental & Utility Assistance through United Way of Santa Barbara County. All County of Santa Barbara residents that have experienced a loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic and can demonstrate the need for rental support may apply. There are strict eligibility requirements for this funding opportunity. 

  • Available to all Santa Barbara County Residents
  • Up to $6,000 over 3-months (individuals may re-apply for an additional 3-months of rent assistance, up to a total of 15 months)

COVID-19 JOINT RESPONSE GRANTS

United Way of Santa Barbara County in partnership with the Santa Barbara Foundation and Hutton Parker Foundation is providing financial assistance grants to qualified individuals impacted by COVID-19 living in Santa Barbara County.

INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE GRANTS

We are no longer taking new applications for individual assistance grants. Those that have already applied will remain on the waiting list and there application will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please check back later, as the application will open again as funds are available.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR CITY OF GOLETA RESIDENTS

In an effort to support the COVID-19 relief efforts of the City of Goleta, United Way of Santa Barbara County (UWSBC) has partnered with the City of Goleta to award assistance grants to City of Goleta residents of up to $1,000 for individuals and up to $2,000 for families who are experiencing hardship related to the COVID-19 crisis (e.g. business closures, social distancing ordinances).

To be eligible for this funding:

  1. You must reside within the incorporated city limits of Goleta, CA. (excludes unincorporated areas, i.e. Isla Vista)
  2. You must be experiencing hardship securing or maintaining your or your family's basic needs due to COVID-19 (e.g. food insecurity, need for medical care/equipment, medications, access to mental health services). For example:
    • You have lost wages or employment due to COVID-19.
    • You have unexpected childcare/education needs and expenses due to COVID-19.
