Volunteer Income Tax Assistant- Adrianna

When you walk into the Coast Village Branch of Montecito Bank and Trust you will see a smiling face. Adriana’s role as a customer service representative provides an opportunity for her to provide hospitality on a day-to-day basis.  Santa Barbara is Adriana’s community, it is where she grew-up, and where she invests her time and talents.

Adriana went to Franklin Elementary, Santa Barbara Junior High, Santa Barbara High School, City College, and is now finishing up her studies at UCSB.  Her experience with the SBHS Don’s Net Café initially got her involved in United Way. As a student she was trained to prepare taxes through the United Way – SBHS partnership. Adriana thought that this would be a great opportunity; she, “liked helping out and how making a difference made me feel.” After taking a brief break from schooling, Adriana began working with MB&T and continued her volunteer work with VITA and the Financial Literacy programs at Fun in the Sun. This convinced her that she wanted to complete her education and purse a career where she could give back to her community.  Adriana hopes to finish her B.A. in Spanish in June of 2016.

Though Santa Barbara is “a small city” Adriana knows that “a lot of people need help and connection.” Adriana sees help through her professional lens and her personal lens, “I want people to maintain their language and culture” and be able to embrace their background while moving forward in life. Adriana is an example of someone who continues to build a better Santa Barbara Community.
