Fun in the Sun serves low-income children and families throughout Santa Barbara County at little or no cost to the families. Our participants are recommended to us by our partners in local schools who work closely with families throughout the year. Those who participate in this program must fit the following criteria:

Are low-income and qualify for Free and Reduced Price Lunch

Are academically "at-risk" and/or are recommended to us by teachers and principals

Have a willingness to participate as a family & commit to a minimum 3 years with the program
Our scholars are eager to learn while having fun, and over and over again, they challenge themselves in academics and art. They also exceptionally demonstrate the 6 Pillars of Character:

Our Families
Parents of FITS scholars are also challenged to take advantaged of learning opportunities. Bi-lingual workshops are held weekly at our sites, where parents discuss a variety of topics, including College Preparedness for Parents, Financial Literacy, and Fostering Positive Learning Enviornments at Home. After a summer of achievement, FITS families come together to celebrate at our biggest event of the year - Family Fun Night!
