Since 1923, UWSBC has been a key leader in local efforts to empower children, families, and communities through its own unique collaborative programs and initiatives, partnership convening efforts, volunteer development, and funding.
Throughout its history, UWSBC has transitioned from the traditional United Way fundraising and grantmaking model to a hybrid organization, building community partnerships and delivering direct programs and services to residents throughout Santa Barbara County. UWSBC has built on its proven method of community organizing, fundraising, and program development to strategically target evolving needs in our community.
UWSBC’s core operating model connects our design and implementation of data-driven programming with efficient funding collaboratives to build comprehensive, community-wide initiatives. We achieve maximum program sustainability and impact through our ability to convene and lead key leaders and representatives from the philanthropic, business, and nonprofit communities to address identified needs.
Throughout UWSBC’s history, this model has proven to be flexible, adaptable, and efficient infrastructure; maximizing our impact to match evolving needs. In partnership with philanthropic, municipal, and community organizations, United Way has connected millions of dollars in financial relief to directly support students, families, and communities in need.
With a renewed focus on crisis response and a robust history of educational and financial resiliency programs, UWSBC is honored to continue our commitment to the individuals, children, and families we serve.
